- Read the labels on all household products before using, since many contain chemicals which can damage carpet and other fabrics.
- Use mats at entrances to reduce dirt from outside being tracked inside, and don’t forget to regularly clean your mats.

Carpet Maintenance
The best way to ensure your carpet stays looking at its best for longer is by vacuuming it regularly. Ideally, this should be at least once a week; more often for high-traffic c areas. Make sure you use a good quality vacuum cleaner that is suited to your carpet. Your local consultant can assist you in your choice of vacuum cleaner. You should also have your carpets professionally cleaned every year. Make sure you choose a reputable company for this, such as Carpet Burners Carpet Cleaning. A poor quality clean can potentially damage your carpet. If your carpet gets marked or stained, try to remove the stain immediately. The longer it remains, the harder it will be to remove. Timber Maintenance
Timber flooring is a very stylish flooring choice for your home or office, and care should be taken to ensure that the appearance is kept in peak condition for as long as possible. If possible, prevent dirt, sand and grit from accumulating on the surface of your floor – they will act like sandpaper and abrade the finish. Mats should be placed at all exterior exits, and the floor should be swept or vacuumed frequently. You should avoid wet-mopping a hardwood floor, and always clean up spills as soon as possible. With water or any other cleaning agent, make sure that you thoroughly wring out your mop prior to applying it to the floor. Excess moisture that is allowed to seep into the seams between the planks may cause damage to your flooring. DO NOT polish or steam clean timber floors. Additionally, in areas such as bathrooms, kitchens, and spaces where food service occurs, top-coating the floor will help prevent against moisture damage.
Cork Maintenance
Cork is a very low maintenance designer solution for your flooring needs. When your floor is dusty, simply sweep with a soft bristled broom or mop. When the floor is dirty, simply wash with warm water and the manufacturer’s recommended floor care product.
Vinyl Maintenance
General maintenance of your new vinyl flooring is a breeze. After installation of your new vinyl floor, wash the surface with a mixture of warm water and the manufacturer’s recommended floor care product. Then rinse thoroughly with warm water. When your floor is dry, simply damp mop with the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning system and use these consistently. Sweep, damp mop or vacuum your floor regularly to remove dust and grit which can scratch and mark your floor. DO NOT use caustic ammonia, solvent based cleaners or wax polishes.
NB: Some rubber products, such as mats or chair stoppers, can cause permanent staining and should be avoided.
Laminate Flooring Maintenance
Your laminate floor can stand up to all sorts of treatment and is easy to clean. A broom, vacuum cleaner, or a wipe-over with a damp cloth is all that is needed to remove marks left from day-to-day wear and heavier traffic by guests, children or pets. DO NOT polish, steam clean, or add detergent to the water when cleaning. Use only the manufacturer’s recommended cleaning liquid added to the water and a well wrung mop.
No responsibility can be accepted for claims arising from, or results of, the use of any of the above suggested treatments. We always recommend that you seek professional help.
